.:798:.

Beijing's new art district, 798, is the cool hot spot to check out. Home to migrant workers in the years before is now filled with posh cafes, galleries, and clothing boutiques.
By accident I realized that almost every photo I took had the color red in it. This is the main street to visit for food and coffee.
The taxi driver who took me here was not impressed with this area. Claiming that this area is just a junk yard and he doesn't understand why foreigners would want to spent time here. Hm... for one, the architecture is cool?
And second, where else can you find ginormous rocks that have been painted red?
And third, these used to be warehouses and factories!
Every space is used by someone to make an expression
Gold nuggets or faces?
Traditional Chinese painting with a modern twist.

北京798工厂变艺术区。来这里得人不光是外地人,我就的值得看一看。但是一定用好卫生间在来!!

  1. I was just there on Saturday! What a coincidence. To a certain extent, I agree with the taxi driver. This area has really changed since I first went to it many years ago. Its definitely become way more commercial, where a lot of the art is by the big artists, as opposed to a real artist district where they have their studios for working on their art. Cao Chang Di is one of the other growing areas!

  2. This looks amazing- I keep telling people I want to visit Beijing because I hear of these new developing 'art scenes' and no one really believes me. Keep blogging- I love seeing places I can potentially visit in the future (wish I had the china visa card.. ergh)
