On The Road To Tibet

48 Hours on the train brought us to Chengdu, Sichuan provence from Shanghai, China over Oct. holiday. From there we took a 4 day drive on the road to Tibet. Let’s just say the car ride felt like the Indiana Jones ride from Disneyland + 5000 meters in altitude (which basically meant deadly headaches and the need the use the washroom every hour on the hour- no joke). I think this is the last road trip I am going to take in a long while. That being said, the 2 best parts of this entire trip was the scenery (duh, that’s why we did the road trip in the first place!) and the bond fire. The scenery was breathtaking, I love the change in the climate and terrain. One hour we are on the grassy plains with the sun beating down on us, the next hour we are on the mountain getting snowed / rained on. All in all, this trip was amazing, I had enough fish hot pot to last me for the rest of the year (it was as delicious as it sounds…yuck) and got to meet some really sweet Tibetan people. The have so much joy in them! Children line the roads and wave when they see cars passing by, such simple people and so beautiful.

  1. oh I went to Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou last year! Unfortunately it was snowing by the time we went so I couldn't visit the Fairy Lake.
